The Best Fall Decor On A Budget
Low Cost Fall Decor To Brighten Your Season
Alright ya’ll, it’s that time of year when the need to decorate my apartment for every cold weather day and holiday is upon us. Considering I just moved here last year, I have a minimal supply of Fall decor. If you are anything like me, the image of a cozy decorated space for the holiday season fills you with joy, but the money you have to spend on the decor fills you with an equal amount of dread.
Never fear, I’ve got you! I have compiled a list of my favorite fall decorations under $20. If you are trying to save money, remember to create your budget and allot a certain amount of money to buy decor. I’ve either purchased these myself or have them on my “to-but” list for this year or next.
I wanted to share these items because if you are lower-income or strapped for cash, it can feel like you can’t do fun stuff like decorating your space. But I’m here to tell you that you CAN! Many of these are items on Amazon, as I realize that certain physical stores aren’t available to everyone. So I’ve kept most of this list exclusive to items you can buy online.
First, I’ll give a few tips on how and where to find some in-person deals, and then I’ll show you my list of cheap fall decor that will brighten your season!

Where To Find Cheap Decorations?
If you’d rather look in person for decorations or just want to find some extremely good deals, I have a few recommendations for you!
-
- Shop At Your Local Dollar Store: There is a common misconception that everything at the dollar store is cheaply made and won’t last. To be 100% honest with you, this is ALMOST true. But if you look closely, there are some hidden gems at your local dollar store when it comes to decor. The quality may not be the best, but it’s comparable to that of a more expensive item at a larger store. Also, with proper care, these items could last years!
-
- Check The Dollar Section Of Walmart, Target, and Other Big Box Stores: Another great place to find small decor items in the dollar section for bigger outlet stores. I don’t know about you, but the dollar section of Target has had a grip on me for years, and it is still a great place to find cute items for your home! Keep in mind these will be small items, you won’t find a $3 wreath, but there are plenty of items you can get for cheap!
-
- Grab Your Decorations After They Go On Sale: I know it’s tempting to buy all the latest decorations as soon as they hit the shelves, but this isn’t the best time to do it, especially if you’re on a budget. ALL big stores will mark down all leftover decorations after the “prime” sale season is over, typically to make room for Christmas stuff. I know you may not want to buy your decorations later that you like to decorate, but not only will you save money this way, but you can save those items for next year!
*PRO-TIP: Invest in some good plastic storage bins or whatever kind of storage container you like or have room for. It is important to be able to safely store all of your nice items so you can use them for many seasons to come!
Low-Cost Fall Decor Your Can Buy Online
DearHouse Fall Garland Maple Leaf, 5.9Ft Hanging Vine Garland Artificial Autumn Foliage
$14.99 | One 5.9ft Garland | Amazon
Garland is possibly one of my all-time favorite decorations for any season. It is a way to decorate a large space with only one item.
You can hang them in doorways, over your fireplace like in the picture, or my personal favorite is draped across the TV stand in my living room! This festive garland is not the exact one I have (I got mine in person so I could not find an online link) but it looks almost identical.
It comes in several different colors and is less than $20!
Wreath Fall Decorations for Front Door with Pumpkins Berry Artificial Maples Leaves
$16.32 | Walmart
This is one of my pricier recommendations, as this wreath is MASSIVE. Wreaths can be hung inside or outside (I’d only do it outside if you have a covered porch), adding instant festivity to your space!
This one is available at Walmart.com and can be shipped right to your door if you don’t have a local Walmart near you.
I picked this wreath to share with you because the assortment of foilage and color make it a timeless decoration piece that if cared for, could be used for many years to come!
Flameless Candles 4″ 5″ 6″ Set of 3 Ivory Outdoor Indoor Pillars
$8.99 | Warm Light 3-Pack | Amazon
What brings a cozy fall feeling to your space better than candles? BUT if you have small children or live in an apartment where you aren’t allowed to have real flames, these are perfect for you!
This is a 3-pack of battery-operated, remote-control candles that can give you the cozy vibes you are looking for with the risk of having real candles. Plus you don’t have to worry about wax dripping everywhere and the candles dwindling over time.
I think this is a great budget decoration because unlike real candles that are comparable to the same price, these have the potential to last for several years!
GEEORY Fall Table Runner Pumpkins Leaves Farmhouse Table Decoration
$9.99 | One 13×72 in Runner | Amazon
Just like my other recommendations, this one item can turn a large space into a fall haven! This Pumpkin Table Runner is perfect for any dining room table, coffee table, or TV stand that you want to spruce up a bit.
It is also machine washable, which is a plus especially if it’s going to be on your dining room table. This pop of color can make any activities you are doing in your home feel a little more festive, and with proper care, can be a staple in your fall decor for years to come!
68 Pcs Assorted Mini Artificial Pumpkins with Maple Leaves Pinecones Acorns Sunflowers Berries
$12.99 | 68 Assorted Pieces| Amazon
This is one of the most valuable decoration assortments that I use. For some reason, assortments of little pumpkins, pinecones, leaves, and fall colors really bring the fall feeling to a space.
There are SO MANY things you can do with this set! You can place them in baskets as centerpieces around your house, spread them out like in the picture to make a cute fall dinner setup, or just place a few piece here and there around your house to add a touch of color everywhere you look!
Cute Halloween Tiered Tray Decorations Indoor, Ghost Wooden Decor Pumpkin Blocks Signs
$15.99 | 3 Pieces| Amazon
Finally, here are some cute decorations for those of you wanting a Halloween fall theme for your decorations! Honestly, these were just too cute to not show you!
I feel like these three little friends can fit beautifully into most fall decoration schemes and add a bit of fun to a space. I can see these being great for a Halloween party or just to have around for the season!
Remember To Only Buy Items That Make You Happy!
It can be hard to look at Pinterest and Instagram and see all of the aesthetic fall setups that other people have. But try and remember that this season is about slowing down and enjoying YOUR life. So, don’t spend money on anything just because it’s the trendiest thing or because that girl you went to high school with has it. Be you, and only buy and do things that make you happy!
